At least 70% of recalled baby items are not returned to stores, a troubling statistic that prompted Toys"R"Us, Inc. to launch the "Great Trade-In," which will run from August 28th through September 20th.
Consumers who take their used car seats, cribs, strollers, play yards, bassinets, travel systems and high chairs to any Babies"R"Us or Toys"R"Us location during the "Great Trade-In" event can purchase a replacement, from a participating manufacturer,* at a 20% discount.
All of our baby gear is new, but I would definitely take advantage of this sale if we needed any upgrades. In these uncertain economic times, I understand the temptation to comb Craigslist and garage sales for a great deal on a car seat or crib, but some used baby gear poses a significant safety risk.
